Fashions for Evergreens

The holiday magic continues at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, where more than 30 beautifully designed trees—created by local businesses, nonprofits, and community partners—are on display for this year’s Fashions for Evergreens competition.

Each tree, is decorated with creativity and care, all in support of local families through United Way of Virginia’s Blue Ridge. Every dollar raised through voting helps provide stability, resources, and hope to neighbors in need — plus it brings each tree one step closer to earning the People’s Choice Award!

Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour

The SML Charity Home Tour is an all-volunteer community event with the purpose of supporting charities in the Smith Mountain Lake region near Roanoke, Va.  Visitors are invited to tour eight gorgeous homes on the shores of beautiful Smith Mountain Lake during Columbus Day Weekend. The SML Charity Home Tour has been honored many times with “Best Community Event” and “Best Charity Event” by the readers of our local Laker Magazine.  Add in the unique feature of all the homes being accessible by both road and water, and it’s a true winner!

The Tour raises funds through partnerships with volunteers, charities, businesses, and individuals.  Since its inception in 1991, over 50 charities have received over $5 Million from their participation with the Home Tour.  In the past three years, over $500,000 was distributed, with an average of $21,000 awarded to each charity. Day of Caring

Day of Caring is our largest annual volunteer event and a visible testament to the power of giving back. These efforts benefit local schools, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations throughout our region.
