Celebrate United 2026: An Evening of Celebration, Community and Excitement

On Thursday, June 4, the Crystal Ballroom at Hotel Roanoke was filled with something you could feel the moment you walked in: energy, excitement, and a room full of people who care deeply about this community.

Celebrate United 2026 brought together local leaders, volunteers, advocates, supporters, and neighbors for an evening dedicated to recognizing the people and partnerships helping move our region forward — and from the lively conversations during cocktail hour to the buzz that carried through dinner and the program, attendees left feeling inspired and energized.

Throughout the evening, United Way of Virginia’s Blue Ridge recognized individuals and organizations whose work continues to shape our region. Riley Price received the Jean A. Glontz Leadership Award, Brandyn Turley was recognized as Employee Campaign Manager of the Year, Franklin County Economic Development received the Shining Star Award, and Jordan Bell was honored with the F. Wiley Hubbell Award for his commitment to preserving and sharing community history.

Guests also celebrated this year’s special honorees: Meredith Burrow, recipient of the Hands and Heart Award; Pamela Irvine, recipient of the Legacy of Leadership Award; and Bill and Diane Elliot, recipients of the Legacy of Impact Award. Their stories reflected a shared commitment to showing up for others and investing in the long-term strength of our region.

The evening also recognized United Way’s 2026 Heroes across six categories — Advocacy, Financial Security, Health, Volunteerism, Education, and Leadership — honoring individuals nominated by peers and neighbors for the everyday ways they strengthen the Blue Ridge region through service, compassion, and action.

Adding to the excitement was the debut of the Key to Impact Drawing. Throughout the evening, guests gathered around prize displays, talked with one another, and purchased tickets for 12 prize packages valued from $400–$1,100. The energy only grew as winners were announced before reaching its peak during the Golden Key finale, when nine finalists stepped forward to test their luck unlocking one of three doors hiding grand prizes valued at $1,500 or more. The suspense, cheers, and celebration added an extra spark to an already memorable evening.

More than anything, Celebrate United served as a reminder that meaningful change doesn’t happen because of one organization — it happens because people continue to show up for one another.
